Bombshell Miniatures has some really cool looking figures for their game, or if you just like Sci-Fi figures. I recently received “Edo Guardling #1 (Edofleini (Edo Faction) Guardling #1 (Spawnguard) ) from Bombshell Miniatures via Modelers Social Club, MSC Review Connect to review. I wish I knew more about the Counterblast adventure battle game, but the figure is well detailed and represents on Octopus type character.

It can also be purchased in kit # 3100 – Counterblast Adventure Battle Game Edo Faction Core set which contains six (6) figures for $49.95 which would be great if you are building army.

The 32mm figure is cast in pewter and comes with a plastic 25mm round base.  The figure is complete and is armed with an Ultonium Arc Halberd. Upon looking closer you see the crisp detailing that Bombshell Miniatures has put into this figure, his tentacles are covered with very detailed suction cups. He (or she?) has a weapon, a helmet and neck armor.

Clean up is minimal. Mold seams are barely noticeable and what flash there is, is located on the part that inserts into the base. This should make clean up very easy. The seam is light, where it can be seen at all and the pewter used is soft enough to easily remove with a light sanding. You can also position the tentacles and weapon to your liking.

As I said before, I wish I knew more about the Counterblast game. The Edo Guardling #1 is a pretty cool looking. I highly recommend this figure if you are into the game, or just like a cool looking Sci-Fi figure. Its size is small and you will need to take care painting it, the decent price, would also make this a great piece for someone starting out on figures or learning the art of figure painting.

Painting of Edo Guardling #1

By Shawn W. Gehling

As descibed in my review above, Edo Guardling (Spawnguard) is from Bombshell Miniatures and is part of the Edo Faction of the Counterblast game. He was modified by cutting the base of his Ultonium Arc Halberd from the base and bending some of his tentacles.

Edo Guardling #1 primed with a light Grey primer then given a Sage green base coat.  His underside and suction cups are light Avocado.

His exterior was then painted English Ivy Green.  His eyes were painted Metallic Blue Sapphire.  His Ultonium Arc Halberd is Metallic Copper/Metallic Silver Sterling.  His helmet and neck armor are Metallic Antique Gold.  The gem in his helmet as painted Flamenco Red.

Edo Guardling painted (1)

Acrylic paints used:

  • Folk Art Metallic (Blue Sapphire, Antique Copper, Silver Sterling, and Antique Gold.
  • Apple Barrel None Metallic (English Ivy Green and Flamenco Red).
  • Americana (Light Avocado).

Base:

The base was provided with the kit and was covered with MOD PODGE (Water-based sealer, glue and finish, then covered with kitty litter and sand that has been pained primer red/terracotta. All in all it was a joy to paint. I did not give him a black wash, but you could and it would make all the detail stand out that much more.
