Dioramas Plus – Shorted Out in Iraq

 1/35th Scale

Kit # DP26

By Shawn W. Gehling

Here is another great looking kit from Randy Pepprock and Dioramas Plus, founder and owner. Check out his website and you will see why you need to get one of his kits:  http://www.dioramasplus.com/site/?cat=3

Dioramas Plus was formed in the fall of 2008. The owner, Randy Pepprock, has been in the hobby industry for over 15 years manufacturing architectural miniatures for model railroads under the “Downtown Deco” banner. Before he worked as a scenic artist in the movie industry in Hollywood, CA. (his kits show his attention to detail). Randy designs, casts and ships each and every order.

The kit arrives in a large box, (packed to withstand shipping as we know it). It is chuck full of cool items for your diorama building pleasure.
They have lots of 1/35th scale buildings and other diorama items that will give you endless diorama ideas.

The Kit

Contains a seven page instruction/booklet to help build and paint this building. Randy also tells you everything that you need to know to build/paint this kit.  There are ten (10) sections of Hydrocal Plaster – six pieces of sidewalk and four sections of parts that make up the building with minimal flash. (Detail is on the front side only, which isn’t a problem, but if you want to go crazy, he tells you how your and scribe in more detail if you feel the need)?  There is also a large bag of Hydrocal Plaster rubble with trash cans.  You get four sheets of plastic (various sizes and types) for the roll up door, awning and backings for the signs that are provided in the paper sheet of Arabic signs.  Two laser cut doors and the door frame, Clear Acetate for window damaged glass for both doors. He even includes metal for the electrical wiring and rebar to be sticking out of damaged areas.  The building looks very accurate.

Randy has another fine building/diorama to make an accurate looking modern day diorama of the Middle East. Let your imagination run wild and have some fun.  Information on damaged Middle Eastern buildings/shops can be found easily.  Overall this should build into an outstanding replica and is highly recommended for anyone who enjoys building Modern Middle Eastern dioramas. This kit currently goes for $44.95 plus shipping on his site. I would like to thank Randy Pepprock of Diorama Plus for sending this review kit. If you want to know more about his products, what’s the best supplies to use when building one of his kits or just want to check them out, go to http://www.dioramasplus.com/site/?cat=3
